Coyoacán

Half an hour by subway from Mexico City is Coyoacán, which means "place where they have coyotes". We decided to visit it because it was home to the mexican painter Frida Kahlo and her husband and mexican muralist Diego Rivera. Frida completed 143 paintings during her lifetime, 55 of which are self-portraits. Nowadays, she is one of Mexico's symbol, and one of the most important women in Art history.

A photograph of Frida Kahlo (She always dressed in this particular way, with lots of flowers on her hair and colorful clothes)

This is the entrance to "The blue house", where Frida lived most of her life. Now is a beautiful museum where you can see some of her works, her studio and her collection of antiques and precolombian objects (It's me and my mom!).

Altar dedicated to Frida, she is the "calavera" (skeleton) on the right and Diego Rivera is on the left. the central figure is Leon Trotsky. These altars are made during the month of october where the "Day of the dead" is celebrated.

These are from the patio of the "Casa Azul". The last picture is a view of her room (unfortunately photographs are not allowed inside the house...)

Many cats live in the "Bue house", we wondered if they were Frida's (she used to have many animals, like monkeys, dogs and parrots).
